The announcements — scheduled ahead of the U.S. holiday shopping season — could include price drops for the iPod Touch and MacBook laptops. Starting prices for the iPod Touch could fall to US$199 from $299 and for MacBooks starting prices could drop to $999 from $1,099.
The new MacBooks will be slimmer, might have exteriors made of aluminum instead of plastic and could also have a newly designed keyboards, said Mike Olson, an analyst at Piper Jaffray & Co.
At the same price, the storage capacity of the iPod Touch could increase, or the same capacity could be offered at a lower price, Olson said.
Apple has held a special event in September to launch new iPods for the last three years, Piper Jaffray analyst Gene Munster wrote in a report. This year, Apple might announce increased capacity of cheape ipods touch, including the Shuffle and Nano brands, but the products won’t be redesigned, Munster wrote.
“We currently believe this is more likely a 2010 event. Rather, we believe a smaller version of the 13-inch MacBook Air is likely in the 2009 timeframe,” Munster wrote.
Over the next few years Apple will also use technology developed for the iPhone in its laptops, including touchscreen-based multitouch technology, Munster wrote.
The company will replace the trackpad multitouch technology on MacBooks with touchscreen multitouch technology in the next two to three years as the technology matures, Munster wrote.
Apple hinted at product enhancements during a financial earnings call in July, saying that it was working on new, “state-of-the-art” ipod sales 2009 will offer “incredible value” to customer

my favorite is the you tube function and i dont think u can get the ibeer thing on the ipod touch and for jailbreaking i think that gives u soooo many bugs that makes your ipod crash and brake that is y i didnt do it to mine PS hope this helps!!

There are two different ones. The thirty dollar ones are just like the ones that come with most iPods and are an entirely different fit than the canalbuds you're using now. Their sound quality isn't very good. The others are canalbuds and cost eighty dollars. No Apple earbuds have ever been known for great sound quality but those are better than the less expensive ones. They probably aren't worth the price to most people. Your best bet is to shop other brands and note that there are new ones expected in the near future.

iPod touch all the way! With the amazing apps you can get, with many free the touch is not only a music player but a computer and potential gps as well. Mac is hard to beat.

Appsniper is a must have, It will watch for sales of other apps, and shows every new app the comes out. I've saved alot of money with it waiting for sales, often you can get paid apps for free if you wait awhile.
Shazam is very cool. Need to know the name of song thats playing? Turn on Shazam and let it listen to the song a few seconds, and it will tell you the song name, artist, links youtube if there are any, and a bio of the band.
